Brilliant doctors practice and excellent service from the reception staff who are always happy to help and answer any questions with professionalism and understanding to the nurses and doctors and the pharmacy staff. Great work guys and thank you for making my life a little easier with your care.

I've just been in to my doctors appointment with a slip with states my appointment is today to be greeted by an incredibly rude receptionist who not only ignored my questions but also began to patronise me 8 think she may require staff training on how to talk to the public with common decency

System of making appointments is not fit for purpose. How can a busy working person possibly make an appointment to see a nurse for vaccinations when the required slots are released by the handful (for certain vaccinations only one nurse is trained and she works barely 2 days a week) in two-three week batches (at unspecified date and time)- and they are all taken almost immediately? Endless phone calls, endless queueing in the system- A complete inability to plan one's own time as a result. What sort of "service" is this? Worse, if one criticizes the lamentable system, the response is hostile- as if one has criticized someone personally. There is of course a clear distinction between an unworkable system and perfectly professional practitioners. But this practice refuses to recognize it. A very defensive practice with old-fashioned attitudes.

Went there this morning and saw doctor Hartley, got to admit he is a great guy, very understanding and also honest! If the rest of the staff there are as he is then you couldn't be in better hands, thank you doctor for everything.

I missed a call five minutes before they closed for the weekend and as I am in full time education could only call back yesterday evening. I was then told to call them back today. In order to ask two questions I had to wait for 30 minutes listening to the WORST hold music I have ever heard, only to be told they would call me back at an unspecified time. I had not asked my questions before they hung up. I understand that they are busy but please change the music!!

Generally good manors all round it's just a shame about the state of York mental health services but that's separate from my doctors, also the appointments/prescriptions service is hit and miss, still a good doctors though 👍🏻 P.S. the receptionist I nearly always get she is one of the best receptionist I've ever spoke to but others are not as good.

I had a number of issues with things going wrong when trying to book an appointment and get a prescription, this got quite frustrating when trying to sort out a fairly urgent problem, most members of staff are ridiculously nice and helpful however there is one person who works on the phone who is rude and not sympathetic to the fact that a few things were slightly messed up by the practice. Its fine if things go wrong but at least be nice about it.

4/ 5

I actually think this is a relatively friendly GP in comparison to others I've gone to. I'm originally from South London, and the GPs there are horrific. I was in York for 4 years for university and I had to switch from the University's GP because it was awful too. All the staff I've met at Gillygate are nice, especially the nurses. I have several health conditions so I have to go to the GP for regular check ups and each time they were lovely and helpful. Okay, the wait time is sometimes quite long, and a doctor forgot to put my medication in twice to the pharmacy but apart from that I genuinely think this is a good GP as GPs come. There were especially helpful when I was hospitalised for my asthma attack this year, which my old GPs never have been.
