I have been a admiring customer of James French for over 20 years. A worthwhile investment of up to 4 hour round trip from NW London to drop my car off in person. At some time your Land Rover's dash will light up like a Christmas tree - take a tip from me as an engineer & head straight for James French. On my first visit with a 12 mth old TD5 defender, one dealer and an independent specialist had diagnosed possible wiring loom failure and squirrel damage quoting thousands to fix. Following a plug-in of his diagnostic tool, Steve at James French fired the vehicle up without even taking it off the recovery trailer. I believe I may have learnt that James French run a help desk for a major diagnostic tool. P35 blender motors were sorted painlessly. L322 TDV8 symptoms are correctly diagnosed over the phone. On a subsequent visit for a four-year-old L322 locked in 3rd gear, the dealers and local independents wanted to change the gearbox with the dealer quoting a price of almost £10k! I dropped it into James French where Steve advised me of a far more reasonable price on a new ZF box. He rang me back the next day to say that he had replaced the stepper motor for a few hundred pounds and the car was ready to collect! I would not even dream of having our current L405 without the re-assurance of James French close at hand. Across the years, I have recommended may other Land Rover owners who a plagued by service problems to James French where there problems have ended. Exceptional service from everyone who I spoke with and they took the time to check over my car and ensure the concerns were addressed. I couldn't fault them. Absolute gents, my turbo inlet hose split while I was in oxford with work & nowhere else could fit me in, luckily the AA recommended James French! Such a shame I don’t live closer I’d use them for EVERYTHING! Thanks again to Chris for his amazing customer service! A******* Highly recommended!!!

The guys at James French sorted the issues with our Discovery Sport that the LR main dealer was unwilling / unable to sort out, despite charging us for investigations and parts for a car that was still under warranty! Very friendly and knowledgeable - thanks.

Made an appointment to view a car on the first day after covid 19 lockdown. Told the agent I was keen to purchase and they booked me in along with my contact details. Turned up on time to be greeted by we've sold it! When I explained I had a pre booked appointment I was basically told tough it's gone. I'm staggered people still operate in this way. What a mercenary individual. They couldn't even give me the courtesy of a phonecall to stop my wasted journey of over 2 hours for the round trip.
