This was so good. I went with an idea ot was going to be a bit pish, but actually, in a very nerdy way, really loved it. Who knew at one point graphite was worth more than gold and that 'the black market' stems from people smuggling graphite and never being quite able to wash it from their hands. Was really good, for those with a geeky nature.

Not really sure what I was expecting to be honest. I mean, it had pencils, a giant pencil and some pencil lead carvings. The gift shop sold pencils. I’d say they probably had all pencil related exhibits covered, but really it’s hard to spend more than an hour there (and that’s being generous). So look at the price and make decide if you think an hours entertainment is worth the entrance price. For me it’s a no. I suppose if you need shelter from the rain it might be worth a look.

A small, quirky museum but really interesting. From the discovery of graphite through all of its uses, including the top secret WW2 pencil. It's dog friendly too..if you're in Keswick take half an hour and give it a go. Staff are friendly and helpful too

The home of Derwent Pencils, it's so tempting to buy even more coloured pencils when I visit. An interesting, full time exhibit about how the humble pencil was invented with locally sourced graphite and how it became a top secret, essential item during the WW2! With friendly staff, great coffee and interesting exhibitions by local artists, well worth a visit 🎨

I thought this museum was super expensive. It was £16 including parking for 2 adults and a 6 and 7 year old. The kids liked doing the quizzes but we'd done the whole room in 10 minutes. The minimum time you can pay for parking is 2 hours. It's nice but I would expect multiple rooms for the price. They also let large dogs in which is not a good mix with small kids in a small space.

Amazing historical building. This place has the world's largest pencil. This place at the beginning has a mine to walk through to get to the main museum. At the end there is a little cafe. This place also has an art gallery inside. Great place for the children and also for adults

The pencil museum was obsessed with pencils. It was a bit small. We enjoyed the quiz and learning about the WWII pencil. We liked that we got to keep a pencil for the entrance price as a ticket. It's a shame the factory closed as it would have been good to look around.
