I had an unpleasant experience with the visa application. As an EU citizen myself, my husband should have received his spouse visa hassel-free and fast. We have tried to contact with them several times and it’s impossible. The whole process feels very disheartening and intimidating. We had applied within the recommended time and have not received any news. Because my husband’s passport got struck with them, we gonna miss our flight to an other country which we have planned to travel before

I do not recommend to go to Austria as a non-EU tourist (at least for the 1st entry, country is amazing of course), because visa application is much more complicated than in Greece and Portugal consulates and they will issue you 20-days visa. Portugal and Greece will give you 6 months at least. Also their visa center charged me twice for courier delivery insisting that online payment is not enough for this additional service. The only good thing that the process took only one week and they have plenty of slots (I understand now why and it's not only due to low season). So I'm really unhappy that for all these efforts you should again and again go to Edi from another city and get this single-entry visas. It's a shame when all countries fighting for tourists treat people like that. Upd: reply to Christoph. Hi Christoph, thanks for feedback to my emotional review. The main problem of getting Schengen visas in Scotland is that you should go to Edi to this the only one visa center (it was VFS), and finally get single entry visa. Yes, we haven't had any trips to EU in last 3 years (but had a lot previously, 2-3 per year) and that's why you probably gave single entry visa, but the reason for this is that it's really complicated - it's easier to go to Morocco, Turkey or Montenegro where you do not need visa. So when we lived in Russia, the process was much easier and quicker and the same country consulate or embassy would give 6 month, 1 year visa at least but never single entry. It's really insulting after all these efforts to get single entry. So in Scotland I'd advise to everybody to go to Greece and Portugal instead of Spain (check reviews for Spain - it's a shame as well) and, sorry, Austria. Portugal and Greece are more welcoming, sorry again. They do not make you every 4 months to go to another city, spend 100 pounds for travel and whole day for application process to get a chance to travel to EU once per 3 years. :) Anyway thanks for approving and not rejecting the application at least. :)
