Beautiful building holding a community hub, museum of the area, and library. Highlights include a Cathedral-like reading room, exhibitions on the history and culture of Liverpool, and a room dedicated to natural history and ornithology which includes an original copy of Audubon's 'Birds of America'. Few non-capital cities are privileged to have a library this extensive. Highly recommend a visit.

Rude members of staff. I was treated poorly when I approached a member of staff to have my library account number because I had left my library card at home. Although it had already happened before and never been a problem, the member of staff refused to assist me and told me clearly that I go back home. Despite being a customer of Central library for 3 years, I did not feel valued at all.

Wonderful building inside and out. Although the library is open every day, it's not every day you get to have a behind the scenes tour. These are available during liverpool heritage open days. The refurbishment is amazing, the reading room is a stunning room with a domed ceiling and beautiful wood panelling. There is so much for people of all ages here. Apart from borrowing books as you do in a library, there's a gaming room for younger people, the internet for all, or just catch up with the news with a selection of newspapers, all in amazing surroundings. We were privileged to have gone behind the scenes and have had a great tour guide in Mike. Considering it's free entry it's a must visit.

amazing library with good study space. Unfortunately they hound you about putting a face mask on, even when it no longer a legal requirement. I lost valuable study time trying to find a near by mask. They neither allow the drinking of water. A basic human right. I know there must be rules, but come on guys... move forward yeah

I work here. I know I'm staff but it's a truly beautiful place. We do our best to give you all the service you would expect from a library like this. The picton reading room and Hornby library and oak rooms are a must we also have computers on floor 1 but please bare in mind that these are very busy.
