This is something that is not very well advertised in my opinion, we arrived during the school holidays and were met by a retired police officer at the door who was very chatty and was very informative and knowledgeable about not only the museum/old police station but Police in general. It was great to walk around looking at some of the old uniform, hats, bikes and tools used by criminals. The cells were great as was the rebuilt relocated court room. I just think they could do so much more to this museum whether it be activities for kids or talks as it just needs something else. It is a great locations the kids and adults loved it and I would highly recommend a visit. With the cuts in policing it's good to see the museum being kept open and it's great for the visitors to see what it was like going back a hundred or so years.

I was only in Manchester for a day and half, but honestly I thought this was probably one of the more interesting places to check out. Great story telling and interesting historic artifacts, like counterfeit money, uniforms and weapons from historic crimes. Check out the graffiti filled alley ways nearby for a great contrast and some great photo ops.

"Police" when we hear this word, there is usually negative connotation attached in our minds. Anyway, after visiting this facility, I was just amazed. What an engaging museum. The former police officers met there were absolutely passionate about the work they did, their presentations were notable and objectives displayed there were distinctive in nature. It's not a day to day museum. As it is related to police and so called baddies in our society, it's an interesting space to drop in on.

Really interesting little museum with lots of stories and artefacts that bring to life the history of policing in Manchester. The cells and the courtroom in particular were fascinating. The volunteers were excellent and were a mine of information on the exhibits. Definitely worth spending an hour or two there!
